Filip was born in Tirgu Mures, Romania and began his motorsport career in karting, aged 11 years old.
In 2019, Filip graduated from karts to single-seaters in the FIA Formula 4 championship in Italian F4, also taking part in select races in the ADAC German FIA F4 championship and Spanish FIA F4 championship, with BVM Racing team. During the course of the season, Filip became the first Romanian driver to qualify on the front row of a FIA race championship and record 3 x consecutive podiums in a FIA race event.
In 2020, Filip drove for Jenzer Motorsport, competing in the Italian F4 championship and finished 8th in the championship, with a total of 133 points, despite having to miss 2 x events to due Covid-19 complications.
The following season, Filip switched to the FIA F3 championship with Jenzer Motorsport and had a year competing against some of the top drivers in world motorsport.
